What is TextScalpel?
A batch find & replace tool for huge codebases and content sets: search and replace across thousands of files at once — in file contents and file names — with rule pipelines, live previews and a snapshot before every write so you can always roll back.
When does it ship?
It's available now — version 0.1.1 with installers for Windows, macOS and Linux, and a 30-day free trial. Download it from the Downloads section above.
Which platforms are supported?
Windows 10+, macOS and Linux — each with its own installer, versioned release history and a permanent "latest" download link. One license works on all of them (2 machines per key).
Will it touch binary files like PDF, Word or Excel?
No. TextScalpel handles text files only — binary files are sniffed (NUL-byte check) and skipped. That's a deliberate scope choice; it's what keeps the tool fast and safe.
Do my files leave my machine?
Never. Scanning, matching, replacement and snapshots are all local. The only network calls are starting the trial and activating your license — once each. After activation it runs fully offline. See the privacy policy for exactly what happens.
How does licensing work?
$19 one-time. You get a license key that activates to a signed license file on your machine (2 machines per key). After that, no internet is required — ever. The trial runs 30 days.
